Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has been conferred as 'Schedule A', Category-I CPSE under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India in July, 2023. As at March 31, 2025, the Government of India holds 67.91% % of equity share capital in the Company. The Company was founded in March, 1972 as a fully owned Government of India company. The Company began shipbuilding operations in 1978. The Company is engaged into construction of vessels and repairs and refits of all types of vessels including upgradation of ships, periodical lay-up repairs and life extension of ships.
